N’ice Cream | The Market

Freshly made every morning, dozens of delightful flavors – think salted caramel, chocolate hazelnut, sour cherry and so many more – of organic, free-trade gelato and sorbet from N’Ice Cream are rare treats. Never more than 12 hours old and made with less cream and sugar than standard products, the sublime gelato is the creation of Danish duo Christian Toxboe and Laura Nielsen.

The pair moved from Denmark in 2008 with the sole purpose of opening a gelato and sorbet store in Los Angeles. They fell in love with Venice and decided it would be the perfect location for the first N’Ice Cream store.  The Abbot Kinney neighborhood quickly embraced the new little gelato store and it became so successful that Toxboe and Nielsen opened a second location on the Venice Boardwalk in 2009. N’ice Cream offers gelato and sorbet by the scoop – made with seasonal fruits and other fresh ingredients – as well as milkshakes, thickshakes and coffee drinks.

Primi Al Mercato | The Market

The vision of esteemed local restaurateur Piero Selvaggio, the new Primi Al Mercato features both a retail side – Laboratorio di Pasta – as well as a casual trattoria highlighting unusual and creative pastas served in small plates with fresh sauces made from farmers market ingredients. Specialties of the day feature a broad range of Italy’s best, including bigoli from Venice and a pici from Florence or gnocchi made from bufala ricotta – all from scratch.

An exciting visual aspect is an on-site pasta maker, who creates fresh and unusual pastas for shoppers to take home or enjoy on the spot. “The Market at Santa Monica Place is a perfect setting for primi piatti,” said Selvaggio, one of the true stars of Santa Monica’s culinary scene. “I’ve long known that the Westside appreciates excellent, authentic Italian food and this new way to enjoy it – casually, right where you shop or to take home with you – fits with how my customers think about food now.”

Primi includes multiple Italian food experiences, including a wine bar with accessibly priced Italian, California and South American offerings.  The wines, available by the glass or carafe, can be paired with specialty cheeses or salumi from New York’s noted Salumeria Rosi.

Primi Al Mercato is Selvaggio’s latest concept. His Valentino Restaurant Group operates the acclaimed Valentino restaurants in Santa Monica, Las Vegas and Houston.

The dual restaurant and retail experience of PRIMI AL MERCATO, with its LABORATORIO DI PASTA, invites patrons to enjoy delectable, first course (primi) small plate dishes in the casual atmosphere of the pub-style dining area.  You may also visit the Laboratorio di Pasta for a visual presentation of the Artisanal craft and a full understanding of this miracle food. Showcasing the most unusual pasta with many colorful and fun shapes, Laboratorio di Pasta offers a visual feast!

The brainchild of Restauranteur Piero Selvaggio, PRIMI AL MERCATO satisfies your need for fun Italian dining. The restaurant features antipasto creations, hand-made pastas, the most traditional Italian desserts and an exclusive list of Artisanal wine selections. All of the featured pastas, including sauces, condiments and spices, are offered for purchase in our LABORATORIO DI PASTA.

The Curious Palate | The Market

Owned by two friends, Elliot Rubin and Mark Cannon, The Curious Palate is a market, kitchen and café specializing in artisanal foods and farm-to-table cooking. The new location at The Market is the second for The Curious Palate, which started on Venice Boulevard. From stinky cheeses to homemade pickles, The Curious Palate takes pride in working with both local farmers and artisan producers worldwide to bring customers the best of the season’s bounty.  Rubin and Cannon believe in celebrating life though good eats and bringing people closer together with each new edible delight.

From slow-roasted meats to organic veggie medleys to succulent birds and rustic soups, the menu at The Curious Palate transforms the best ingredients from local farms into comfort foods with a sophisticated touch. Favorites on the lunch menu include The Brooklyner – locally smoked salmon, goat cheese, roasted tomato aioli on sourdough – and The Raj – housemade apple-current chutney with Quebec 4-year sharp cheddar grilled on a panini.

In its market shoppers find hand-picked culinary items from around the world, including artisan olive oils, vinegars, pastas, grains and legumes, local ciders and chocolates.

Artisanal LA comes to The Market | The Market

Artisanal LA is proud to present a curated selection of some of their favorite local vendors at a month long Pop-Up in celebration of The Market’s grand opening. Enjoy a variety of hand selected local, handmade and sustainable products from a rotating selection of unique purveyors inside the Market from Friday, May 20th through Sunday, June 12th.

Venokado Wine and Gifts | The Market

The Market is the second location of this hip and eclectic wine shop in West Hollywood that marries intriguing vintages with hard-to-find, beautifully packaged gifts. The store’s locally famous “clutch gifts” artfully pair bottles with color-coordinated gift items – from rare art books and witty housewares to organic baby toys.  A tasting room adds to the experiential flavor of this concept at The Market.

At Venokado, according to 944 Magazine, “…Wine buffs should be ‘tickled Rosé’ by the selection of boutique bottles on offer, carefully selected by Susan Brink, wine director at Dominick’s and Little Dom’s.  Her partners in the business, Tracy Hof and Brink’s sister, Molly, have assembled a witty collection of well-designed gift items, along with serious eye-candy books from cult publisher Assouline.  The real kicker is a range of infant fashion that would make any Spaulding Square hipster mom flush with onesie pride.  Venokado also will box and deliver gifts to friends or corporate clients, and if given a budget, they’ll assemble a gift selection for a fair price that will make anyone look like a tastemaker.”

A perfect fit for The Market, each holistic formula is made in small batches focusing on certified organic and biodynamic ingredients, many California grown. The vibrancy of fresh, alive ingredients allows the skin to recognize and absorb nutrients, much like the same bioavailability of organic foods.  So Benedetta preparations truly are food for your skin. Benedetta is not a band-aid approach to skin, health and rejuvenation, but a holistic one. The results are corrective and continued.

The company’s vibrant preparations are made with botanical ingredients purchased from a global community of farmers, all with their own rich heritage and story – from the 10-year-old family crop of Bulgarian Roses to our local Northern California lavender to a certified fair trade Shea Butter.

Benedetta products never contain synthetic fragrances, fillers or coloring agents.  Each formula has the rich color and sweet smell nature intended.  Benedetta skincare is non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) and highly concentrated so a little goes a long, long way.  Benedetta, which means “blessed” in Italian, currently has one retail location in San Francisco’s Ferry Building.
